Single Shotgun
One room wide, several rooms deep
The classic narrow shotgun form: generally one room wide, several rooms deep and entered from the narrow end facing the street. Traditional examples commonly use a room-to-room interior arrangement without a central hallway.
Singles vary considerably in exterior design, length, lot position, interior configuration and level of renovation. Some retain traditional layouts; others have been reworked to introduce halls, larger living areas, modern kitchens, additional bathrooms or rear extensions.
